Resource Families provide a special service to children and to the community by providing love and ongoing care to children who cannot live with their birth families. Community members, close friends of the birth family and relatives of the birth family can all become Resource Families https://ehsd.org/children/foster-care-and-licensing/
Abuse is the non-accidental injury of a child. It includes physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, exploitation and neglect. Last year, the emergency response hotline received over 16,000 calls, which were screened and assessed for child maltreatment and neglect.
Federal and State Regulations require that we assess all referrals which allege that a child is endangered by abuse, neglect, or exploitation. In addition, the Children & Family Services Bureau has the responsibility to investigate reports of children in immediate danger to ensure their safety. If you suspect that a child you know is being abused or neglected you can make a referral by calling our 24-hour, 7 days a week Hotline Toll Free at
